Others (like yours truly) wouldn’t have an M3 any other way. Sure, abrupt throttle changes would prompt aggressive downshifts — as you would rightfully expect — but judging the degree of throttle that triggers two downshifts instead of three could be difficult. The downside? A little too much acceleration. Oh, bother. But when driven smoothly, like your everyday family sedan, the DCT always found the ideal gear and switched seamlessly at highway speeds. Put your mom in the driver’s seat, and our money says she wouldn’t realize she was driving something special.
But now it’s gone — the Mexico dash didn’t pan out. And while we now have time to let the bruises heal from the fights over its keys, we realize that the M3 has left a hole in our long-term fleet that won’t soon be filled. Finding another car that pleases its driver in such myriad forms might as well be the quest for the Holy Grail; the only obvious replacement for our M3 is the next one. The World’s Greatest All-Around Car? Unquestionably.

BMW’s twin-clutch transmission exhibited a few faults, too. On the occasional cold start-up, the gearbox would engage lower gears somewhat hesitantly and with a clunk, but it smoothed out as everything warmed up. Overall, the transmission’s acceptance ratio was high, with only a few befuddled Luddites craving a manual. One such example was associate Web editor Kirill Ougarov, who complained, “It’s sluggish at slow speeds unless you bury the throttle. I could not make any sense of its shift logic. Sometimes it would downshift, sometimes it wouldn’t.”

The 2013 BMW M3 is a great all-around car for the driving enthusiast. Whether you're driving on the track, to work, or day care, the M3 handles it all with purpose and style. The only other change to the BMW M3 for this year is the addition of a new Lime Rock Park Edition. The 4.0 liter V8-cylinder gasoline engine fitted to the M3 redlines at 8,400 rpm....
It was not the first M car from BMW, but the first-generation M3 solidified the company's mandate as the maker of sports sedans that could run with true sports cars and remains the standard bearer, even today, for that ideal combination of performance and streetability.
Firstly, BMW E92 M3 is simply brutal car, which hardly can be compared with anything else. It is powered by a magnificent high-revving S65B40 - 4.0 litre V8 delivering 420PS (309 kW) at 8300RPM and 400Nm (295 lb-ft) at 3900RPM. 0 to 100 km/h in 4.8 seconds and a top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph) – electronically limited. Without the limiter, E92 M3 can easily pass 300 km/h (186 mph).  The price is astonishing as the car itself - ₀ 72 900.
On the other hand, we have a nice E92 335i, which is the top-of-range 3-Series (except M3). It comes with N54B30 (International Engine of the Year award in 2007 and 2008) – 3.0 liter twin-turbocharged straight-six with 306PS (225 kW) at 5800RPM and 400Nm (295 lb-ft) between 1300 and 5000RPM. The redline is at 7000RPM, so you have enough time to change gears even with such amount of power.  0 to 100 km/h in 5.6 seconds and top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph) – electronically limited. Without the limiter, E92 335i can hit 280 km/h (174 mph). Although, it is a lot slower than E92 M3, the twin-turbocharged model has many advantages and the biggest is the tuning potential.
The "real deal" in E92 M3 is its spirit. No other BMW build revs, goes and sounds like those came out from Motorsport GmbH. It is simply astonishing with the unique style and stance. You can't mistake a real M3, when you see it. It is more aggressive with its aerodynamics package, a big bump on the front bonnet and four tail-pipes.
A boosted E92 335i is definitely a better choice for everyday use and especially when it comes to a price and running costs. However, one thing is for sure, when you step inside E92 M3, you'll feel much better. Heart or brain? It's up to you!
The engine is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission or a new generation SMG III dual-clutch gearbox, which is even faster than the manual version. Everything in E92 M3 "screams" – SPORT… and nothing else.
With a simple and cheap DirectFlash N54 ECU software by ESS Performance, the everyday sports car become a real beast with 400PS (294 kW) and 550Nm (407 lb-ft) of torque. The RPM limit is moved to 7200RPM and the top speed governor is removed.
