2016 BMW 228
The forerunner to BMW's 5 Series cars was launched in 1968, when inline six-cylinder engines found their way into the New Class platform. Four years later, this line of cars became the new 5 Series BMW models. The success of these cars fostered an expansion farther upmarket and the 6 Series coupes and 7 Series sedans appeared.
2015 BMW 228
With the continued expansion of the SUV boom of the late 20 th century BMW introduced the X5, its take on the SUV concept. The spiritual successor to the 507 emerged in 1995, with the introduction of the new BMW Z3 sports cars (the X5 and the Z3 were also the first new BMW models to be built in the United States).
2016 BMW 320
Today, the company manufactures a full line of new BMW cars from the compact to the luxury class, along with a brace of Sport Utility Vehicles. Additionally, the BMW group owns the MINI and Rolls Royce brands, in addition to a thriving line of motorcycles.
2015 BMW 320
In 1961, the company introduced the BMW 1500—a compact sedan with the underpinnings of a sports car. Front disc brakes, an independent rear suspension system, and the free winding BMW 1.5-lite four-cylinder engine made the new BMW cars an absolute delight to drive. This established the driver-oriented DNA of new BMW models, which continues to this day. Two door versions of the 1500 appeared in 1966, which ultimately evolved into the renowned BMW 2002, which in turn evolved into today's mainstay of the BMW marque, the 3 Series.
2016 BMW 328
Over the ensuing years, a couple of interesting new BMW sports cars found their way out of the BMW factory, the most notable being the legendary 1956 BMW 507 roadster. However, BMW's big break came with the 1960s development of their “New Class” line of cars.
2015 BMW 328
The first of the BMW new cars came in 1927. The BMW Dixi was an Austin Seven manufactured under license. BMW later bought the Dixi Company and renamed the model the BMW 3/15. The first of the original BMW models came in 1933—the BMW 303 was a two-door coupe. The next model appeared in 1936, the 326 four-door sedan.
2016 BMW 328d
Given the performance reputation of the outstanding BMW 5 Series, some buyers might consider it a waste to buy a diesel-powered version of the car. For those of this mindset,...

The BMW X6 also offers best-in-class aerodynamic design. Air Curtains, the Air Breather system, air deflectors on the front wheel arches and a range of other detail improvements reduce the drag coefficient (Cd).

Along with the additional ECO PRO mode functions, the new BMW X6 also comes with many other BMW EfficientDynamics features. These include Brake Energy Regeneration, Auto Start/Stop, on-demand operation of ancillary units, Electric Power Steering, and a variety of weight- and drag-reducing features. Along with other measures, use of ultra-high-tensile steels in the body structure, thermoplastics in the front fenders, aluminum in the hood and magnesium in the instrument panel support all help to reduce curb weight. Intelligent lightweight design also means that the increase in standard equipment compared with the previous model does not translate to increased vehicle weight. The curb weights for the new X6 xDrive35i and X6 xDrive50i are both reduced compared to their direct predecessors.

The ongoing evolution of the Sports Activity Coupe concept has enabled the new BMW X6 to offer an even broader variety of qualities than its predecessor. Enhanced dynamics go hand in hand with improved efficiency, the vehicle’s sporting prowess and versatility have been optimized, as have ride comfort and safety. The cabin ambience has gained in luxury and interior functionality which has also been taken to the next level. Much of the credit for this eye-catching progress goes to the targeted advances in chassis technology made with the new BMW X6 and a body structure rooted in the principle of intelligent lightweight design.
2015 Bmw X6 - DOC555211
The new BMW X6 is fitted with Electric Power Steering including Servotronic speed-sensitive power assistance. Meanwhile, Active Steering – available as an option – also adjusts the steering ratio to the car’s current speed. This reduces the steering effort required for low-speed maneuvering, for example, and provides precise responses and clear feedback at high speeds. The electromechanical parking brake with Auto Hold function is again standard on the new BMW X6.
2015 Bmw X6 - DOC555209
Chassis packages tailor sporting responses and comfort levels to customer requirements. Individual requirements in terms of ride comfort and sports performance can be fulfilled with the chassis options and packages available for the new BMW X6. Dynamic Damper Control and air suspension with automatic self-leveling for the rear suspension is available as a stand-alone option. The electronic control system adapts the car’s damping to the road conditions and driving situation at hand. Adaptive M suspension, which is an optional upgrade with M Sport, offers the same functionality. Activating SPORT or SPORT+ mode delivers particularly firm spring and damper characteristics.
2015 Bmw X6 - DOC555227
All models in the new BMW X6 lineup feature a standard eight-speed Steptronic sport automatic transmission, whose high internal efficiency, precision and short shift times help to improve both efficiency and responsiveness. The transmission offers a “launch control” function, a high-precision traction control system which allows engine power to be translated as efficiently as possible into road speed when accelerating from a standstill.
As well as aluminum door sill strips bearing the M logo and the anthracite-colored BMW Individual roof liner, features including electrically adjustable sports seats for the driver and front passenger, interior trim in Aluminum Hexagon, an M leather steering wheel and an M driver’s footrest all combine to bring an intense aura of sporty driving to the interior of the new BMW X6. A specially designed car key is also part of M Sport.
in the middle of 2012. These changes were the last the first-gen SUV would receive because, starting 2015, BMW begins selling the second-generation X6. The
Power tailgate operation is also included for the new BMW X6. The tailgate can now be both opened and closed via remote control and from the driver’s seat at the touch of a button. Maximum convenience for loading and unloading the new BMW X6 is provided by the hands-free trunk opening and closing function, which comes as part of the Comfort Access feature (standard on X6 xDrive50i/optional on X6 sDrive35i and X6 xDrive35i). Sensors detect foot movements underneath the rear apron and send out signals which prompt the electric tailgate into action.
xLine: lending the exterior and interior an exclusive aura. Customers keen to experience the new BMW X6 beyond its standard form may well be attracted by the xLine which provides a particularly vivid showcase for the assured presence and exclusive aura of the exterior. In addition, the Interior Design Packages bring additional luxury to the interior.
The xLine helps give the new BMW X6 an unmistakably exclusive appearance with a host of details, some of which – in addition to their uniform Cerium Grey color scheme – also have a model-specific design. These include optical underbody protection elements in stainless steel for the front and rear apron, illuminated door sills and footplates in aluminum for the driver’s and front passenger’s door, kidney grille bars with a distinctive geometry, bespoke inserts and bars for the air intakes, distinctive trim for the Air Breathers on the fenders, the trim strip on the trailing edge of the tailgate, and the exterior mirror caps. Adding a unique flourish to the side view is the combination of exterior mirror bases and B- and C-pillar trim in high-gloss black, plus aluminum surrounds in Cerium Grey for the side windows and exterior mirror caps. Another exclusive feature of the xLine is the 20-inch light-alloy wheels in V-spoke design and bi-color finish with mixed-size tires.
Making the case for maximum dynamics: M Sport for the new BMW X6. M Sport can also be ordered for all models of the new BMW X6. The dynamic character of the Sports Activity Coupe is accentuated by aerodynamically optimized body elements with large air intakes at the front end, strikingly contoured side skirts, a diffuser insert for the rear apron, as well as a bespoke BMW kidney grille design with bars in matte aluminum and high-gloss chrome exhaust tailpipe embellishers in the trapezoidal geometry that is standard on the X6 xDrive50i. The lower borders of the wheel arches along with the side skirts are painted in body color. M Sport also includes BMW Individual High-gloss Shadow Line trim, 19-inch or optional 20 inch M light-alloy wheels, as well as the option to upgrade to the specially tuned Adaptive M suspension.
The elements of the Dynamic Handling Package intervene noticeably to imbue the BMW X6 with particularly sporty handling characteristics through corners. Here, Dynamic Performance Control and the active roll stabilization system optimize directional stability and reduce body roll. In addition, Dynamic Damper Control and rear air suspension are also included with the package.
Intelligent lightweight design: increased body rigidity, reduced weight. The success of the intelligent lightweight design techniques applied in the development of the body structure for the new BMW X6 can be seen in the vehicle’s fuel consumption as well as its agility in the hands of a sporty driver. Measures such as the considered use of high and ultra-high tensile as well as hot-stamped steels lend the body of the X6 improved torsional stiffness compared with its predecessor and increase the strength of the safety passenger cell.

Driving enjoyment and safety at night can be enhanced by the optional Adaptive LED Headlights with automatic high beams. Also available for the new BMW X6 is the BMW Night Vision system, which now detects not only pedestrians but animals as well. The system relays a real-time video image to the Control Display showing people, larger animals and other heat-radiating objects, even if they are outside the headlight beam. A warning is provided if there is a risk of collision.
Bmw X6 - Doc555229
For the new BMW X6, the BMW Head-Up Display – which projects important information in full color onto the windshield – now includes additional content. When required, telephone contact lists and entertainment information can also be projected into the driver’s direct field of view. As well as vehicle speed, 3D graphics also show Check Control messages, navigation information – including lane recommendations, speed limits – and other information supplied by the driver assistance systems.
Bmw X6 - Doc555230
BMW Assist eCall and TeleService. The new BMW X6 is equipped with the BMW Assist eCall system and TeleService including a 10 year subscription. The system relays important information to the BMW Call Center in the event of a crash, such as vehicle position (accurate to within feet), chassis number, vehicle model, vehicle color and data from the onboard sensors. The system also detects how many people are travelling in the vehicle, which airbags were activated and the intensity of the impact. Thanks to the company’s ground-breaking Urgency Algorithm, the system also uses data from the vehicle’s crash sensors to assess and transmit the likelihood of severe injury. This makes it easier to supply first responders with critical information in a timely fashion.
Bmw X6 - Doc555231
Perfect connectivity with BMW ConnectedDrive Services available at all times. BMW Assist in the new X6 includes Remote Services such as vehicle unlocking and stolen vehicle recovery. Also available is the optional Concierge Service – a telephone information service which BMW ConnectedDrive customers can use, say, to make hotel or restaurant reservations, look for addresses and telephone numbers or check opening times. BMW Online is also available.
Bmw X6 - Doc555222
BMW Apps is standard in the new X6. Among other things these apps support web radio functions, social media functions such Facebook and Twitter, and the range of online entertainment features provided by BMW ConnectedDrive. This flexible apps strategy makes it possible to incorporate not just proprietary BMW Group apps but also BMW Apps-ready applications from other providers such as Pandora, Audible, Stitcher, Rhapsody, TuneIn and Glympse.
Bmw X6 - Doc555236
At-a-glance monitoring: multifunction display, BMW Head-Up Display, LED fog lights, BMW Selective Beam, BMW Night Vision. The new BMW X6 includes a freely programmable Dynamic Digital Instrument Cluster. This 10.2-inch display changes its appearance depending on the selected Driving Dynamics Control mode. Clear differentiation between the various modes is provided by different-style graphics and different color schemes. In COMFORT mode, the display shows a classic array of four circular dials. In ECO PRO mode, the rev counter is transformed into an EfficientDynamics display. In SPORT mode, the speed is displayed digitally in the form of a large figure in the center of the speedometer, while the currently engaged gear is displayed in the center of the rev counter.
Parallel parking made easy with the Parking Assistant. Additional convenience when driving in town is provided by the optional Parking Assistant. This system helps the driver identify and drive into parallel parking spaces. When the parking button is pressed, the new BMW X6 parks itself automatically in the selected parking space. While performing this precisely controlled maneuver, the system provides the necessary steering input, while the driver operates the accelerator and brake pedal, and selects the correct gear.
The new BMW X6 also sets new standards when it comes to aerodynamics. Air Curtains, Air Breathers, optimized airflow over the rear, air deflectors on the front wheel arches, and an array of other details allow the car’s drag coefficient to drop as far as Cd 0.34.
Ultra-high-strength steels along with the use of thermoplastics in the fenders, aluminum in the hood and magnesium in the instrument panel support, all help to reduce the weight of the X6. Overall, the significantly expanded standard specification of the new car compared to its predecessor has not, therefore, led to higher numbers on the scales. In actual fact, given identical equipment levels the new BMW X6 would actually be up to 35 – 55 pounds lighter, depending on the model. Moreover, this intelligent mix of materials helps to achieve a virtually 50:50 weight distribution.
Bmw X6 - Doc555180
The new BMW X6 is equipped to offer hallmark BMW driving pleasure. A prime example is its extensive range of BMW ConnectedDrive features. The Sports Activity Coupe’s innovative driver assistance systems and mobility services improve active safety and comfort and allow even more effortless and convenient use of infotainment services. The number and variety of such functions offered by the new BMW X6 to support intelligent connectivity between driver, vehicle and the outside world is unique in this class.
Bmw X6 - Doc555181
Active Driving Assistant available on the new BMW X6. In addition to cruise control with braking function, the new BMW X6 also is available with Active Driving Assistant. This camera-based driver assistance system includes Lane Departure Warning, which can be used whenever the vehicle is travelling at a speed of more than 44 mph. Lane Departure Warning alerts drivers with a visible signal in the instrument cluster and a vibration of the steering wheel if they have inadvertently drifted out of their lane. The option, which is included in the Driver Assistance Plus Package, also includes a Pedestrian and Collision Warning system with Braking function.
Bmw X6 - Doc555182
Also included in the Driver Assistance Plus Package is Speed Limit Info, which shows the speed limit for a particular road in the instrument cluster, while the Active Blind Spot Detection system, assesses the traffic situation on multi-lane roads in order to prevent critical situations when pulling out to overtake. When performing an intentional lane change at any speed upwards of (12 mph), the driver is warned by a visual signal and a steering wheel vibration if another vehicle is hidden in the critical area behind or alongside the new BMW X6.

Customers can choose from six colors for the standard Dakota leather trim, including the new variants Cognac and Coral Red. Seat heating for the driver and front passenger is standard, while heated rear seats are available in the Cold Weather Package. Driving pleasure and long-distance comfort can also be enhanced with features including the standard BMW Navigation System with touchpad Controller, the Bang & Olufsen surround-sound system and the new Rear Entertainment System. All model variants of the new BMW X6 feature standard 19-inch light-alloy wheels. Additional 19-inch as well as 20-inch light-alloys are also available.
Bmw X6 - Doc555189
The tailgate comes with a standard Soft Close Automatic function, which is also available for the doors as an option. The new BMW X6 also comes standard with a power glass sunroof whose surface has the same width but is almost five inches longer than on the previous model.

Around back, there s a new set of redesigned taillights protruding more into the trunk lid, a reshaped bumper with sportier accents and a pair revised exhaust pipes. All told, both the front and rear fascias have been updated to BMW s current design language. When viewed from the side, the X6 is again characterized by sharper cues, as well as a new crease that runs right above the rear wheel arch, a body detail borrowed from the smaller X4. In fact, the new X6 is essentially a larger
The redesign BMW X6 will hit U.S. dealerships later this year with a choice of two engines. The base X6 sDrive35i and the xDrive35i are powered by the familiar turbocharged, 3.0-liter inline-six rated at 300 horsepower and 300 pound-feet of torque, and it will take you from 0 to 60 mph in only six seconds — 0.3 seconds faster than the first-gen 35i models. The sportier X6 xDrive50i, on the other hand, carries a brawnier twin-turbo, 4.4-liter V-8 that enables the vehicle to accelerate from naught to 60 mph in only 4.8 seconds, 0.8 seconds quicker than its predecessor. That s because the revised unit is now good for 445 ponies and 480 pound-feet of torque, a strong 45-horsepower and 30-pound-feet improvement over the previous generation.
xLine, M Sport and options: Tailoring the BMW X6 to individual tastes An extensive selection of options, the new xLine and M Sport all create additional scope for tailoring the new BMW X6 precisely to individual tastes in terms of luxury and dynamics.
I never really liked the BMW X6. I admit I m not that much into SUVs, but I d take any other utility vehicle over the X6. Sure, I appreciate that BMW s had enough guts to slaughter the X5 and start a whole new niche, but the X6 still looks like a butchered SUV to me. It s even worse now that BMW decided to turn it into a bloated X4. It s main advantage though, besides the huge amount of tech and power that comes with it, is its unique position in the market. I mean, how many luxury, coupe-like SUVs can you buy nowadays? None! At least not in this size. Hopefully, the Porsche Cayenne will come to the rescue with a sloping roof and a Superman t-shirt.
In creating the new rendering for the second generation BMW X6 we took our inspiration from the recently announced X5. However, we added a coupe-style roof and redesigned the rear- end with new rear lights and a smaller trunk door.
Porsche Cayenne
, Now just a larger X4, Still the Hunchback of the SUV market, Can you wait for the Porsche Cayenne Coupe or the Mercedes-Benz MLC?,
Porsche Cayenne - Doc561990
Unlike the X6 and the Cayenne, the Range Rover Sport is already available in the United States, where it can be seen roaming the streets with either a V-6 or a V-8 under the hood, both with superchargers on top. The smallest of the two cranks out 340 horsepower and enables the SUV to sprint from 0 to 60 mph in 6.9 seconds, while the 5.0-liter V-8 has 510 ponies at its disposal. As expected, the latter is a lot faster on the 0-to-60 sprint and needs only five seconds to complete it. Both engines are paired to ZF-developed eight-speed automatic transmissions.
Porsche Cayenne - Doc561873
The really big news with the Cayenne is that the S model will have its 4.8-liter V-8 unit replaced by a 3.0-liter V-6 rated at around 420 horsepower. No need to be disappointed though, as the Turbo and the Turbo S get to keep their monstrous units and the spectacular power figures that blow past the 500-horsepower mark. The current Cayenne starts from $49,600 in its base, 300-horsepower trim, but fetches in excess of $110,400 when fitted with a Turbo badge.
Porsche Cayenne - Doc561868
The second-generation BMW X6 arrives just in time for the facelifted, second-gen Cayenne. And interestingly enough, both vehicle are borrowing styling cues from their smaller cousins. While the new X6 is pretty much a swollen X4, the
Updated 06/06/2014: BMW released today the official details on the revised X6 SUV which will be put on sale on the North American market in late 2014.
Updated 08/13/2014: BMW announced prices for the revised X6 set to go on sale in the fall of 2014. Prices start from $61,900 for the xDrive35i version and from $72,900 for the xDrive50i version. Prices go way up from these starting points, thanks to the impressive list of options offered by the company. Details after the jump.
Updated 06/11/2013: Today we have created a new rendering for the next BMW X6 based on the new generation X5 launched the other days. We hope you like it.
Updated 06/05/2014: The first images of the revised BMW X6 have leaked online meaning of course that the official debut is getting closer. Check them out after the jump. (
Exterior design: dynamic proportions, fluid lines, striking accents. The design of the new BMW X6 body combines the robust presence of a BMW Sports Activity Vehicle with the hallmark sporting elegance of the brand’s Coupes to create an unmistakably athletic appearance. The long hood, long wheelbase, short front overhang and set-back passenger compartment are characteristic design features of a BMW. Its high window sill and large wheel arches highlight the Sports Activity Coupe’s ties to the BMW SAV family.
Interior: sporting elegance, modern luxury, advanced functionality. Boasting generous levels of spaciousness, the high seating position typical of a BMW SAV and high-quality, beautifully finished materials, the interior of the new BMW X6 creates the perfect environment for a driving experience cloaked in an air of luxury. The three-dimensional design and horizontal structure of the layered surfaces underline the broad sweep of the instrument panel, which – along with the upper-arm trim panels – features a high-quality Softskin surface with black decorative stitching. The interior trim elements in Poplar Wood now sit atop a high-gloss black surface, which is bordered on its lower edge by an accent strip in Pearl Gloss Chrome. Interior trim strips in Brushed Aluminum, Fineline Oak Wood, Fineline Striped Wood and Fineline Pure Wood can also be specified as a no-cost option.
The instrument cluster and the displays for the climate control and ventilation in the new BMW X6 all feature black-panel technology. The content, presentation and color of the screens in the standard Dynamic Digital Instrument Cluster vary according to the mode selected by means of the Driving Dynamics Control switch. The freestanding, 10.2-inch flatscreen Control Display comes as part of the standard-fitted iDrive operating system.
The distinctive style of the new BMW X6’s interior is captured in the sports leather steering wheel with multifunction buttons and shift paddles, gearshift lever in sporty design and a rear seat bench whose two outer seats have a distinct individual seat character and which offers large storage compartments in the center armrest. Another model-specific equipment detail are the knee pads on the center console, which feature contrast stitching on their leather surface and an accent strip in Pearl Gloss Chrome.
At the rear, horizontal lines emphasize the width and solid stance of the new BMW X6, while the surface design in the area of the high-opening tailgate, a powerfully formed bumper and flat rear apron signal robust athleticism. The three-dimensional LED light strips of the two-section, L-shaped rear lights, meanwhile, create a striking night-time look. As with the front, a matt silver-colored underbody protection element completes the lower edge of the body.
The side view of the new BMW X6 is likewise defined by eye-catching lines and sharply-drawn contours. The wedge shape of the silhouette is accentuated by a model-specific interpretation of the double swage lines. Emerging from the front wheel arches, the first rises steadily up along the new BMW X6 to the rear door handles. A second swage line sets out on a lower path, extending in a dynamic sweep into the rear lights. The eye is therefore drawn immediately to both the strong presence of the new BMW X6, thanks not only to the coupe-style roofline but also a glasshouse whose light, intricate look contrasts with the powerful body.
2015 Bmw X6 1
Naturally, the new X6 is not just about updated visuals. The vehicle is also about 20 pounds lighter than the outgoing model, which is a big deal when you consider its increased overall length and width. Awkwardly enough though, the wheelbase is now shorter at 76.1 inches.
2015 Bmw X6 2
The BMW ConnectedDrive systems fall into two categories. The driver assistance systems provide important information about the current driving situation which, among other things helps to improve the driver’s focus on the road and traffic. They also assist drivers in a variety of driving situations. The second category of systems comprises services and Apps, which offer a host of different functions. Via a mobile phone or internet connection, these functions supply information and entertainment services to support a driving experience which is safe, comfortable and engaging. The standard iDrive system with Control Display, and favorites buttons provides intuitive, low-distraction operation of these functions. It includes a 10.2-inch central dashboard display and a center console-mounted touchpad Controller with touch-sensitive interface for inputting numbers and characters.
2015 Bmw X6 4
The combination of a double-wishbone, double-pivot front suspension and the proven integral rear suspension, patented by BMW, underpins a blend of sporting agility and impressive ride comfort that none of its rivals can match. Further improvements have been made in various areas, including the car’s directional stability, the friction coefficient of the wheel bearings, tire noise and weight, which has been reduced by 4.4 pounds on the front suspension alone.
2015 Bmw X6 5
The rear cabin compartment got a few nips and tucks as well. The outer seats have a distinct individual seat appearance and seem more comfortable than before, while the center armrest offers larger storage compartments. The contrast stitching and the Pearl Gloss Chrome accent strip on the knee pads is another cool and unique addition to the X6. Once the rear seat backrest, which comes in a 40:20:40 configuration, is folded flat, the vehicle s storage capacity increases from 20.5 cubic feet to up to 53.9 cubic feet, a slight improvement over the previous model.
2015 Bmw X6 6
Dynamic proportions and flowing lines reflect its sporty, agile handling on the road. The muscular and robust aspects of the vehicle’s design point to its versatility and appetite for action off the beaten track. At the front of the vehicle, the X-shaped contour lines of the bumper, the matt-silver underbody protection, the particularly powerful design of the BMW kidney grille and the arrangement of the twin circular headlights along front LED foglights are the most prominent signature features of a BMW SAV. The large headlight units reach all the way to the BMW kidney grille and extend outwards well into the fenders. Sweeping chrome inserts and the prominently three-dimensional design of the lights underline the sophisticated character of the standard Xenon headlights. Optional Adaptive LED Headlights can be specified for the new BMW X6.
Porsche Cayenne
The Porsche Cayenne has undergone some major changes for 2015, including a heavily revised exterior, a classier, better looking interior, and several updates to engine performance and output. Now in place of the Hybrid is the S E-Hybrid that shares its parts with the Panamera S E-Hybrid. The Cayenne S has dropped the V-8 in favor of a more powerful twin-turbo V-6. The Cayenne Turbo now benefits from a revised twin-turbo V-8 that kicks out 520 horsepower and 553 pound-feet of torque.
The new BMW X5 M and new BMW X6 M have been designed for use on the road. Both of these elite Sport machines combine the raised seating position of an all-wheel-drive BMW X model with the outstanding overall concept balance of a BMW M vehicle. In order to visually reinforce the further improved on-road attributes of the new M models, the whole body is painted the same color. In combination with a 10-millimeter reduction in ride height and the wider track created by the use of mixed-size tires, the vehicles have a lower, more powerful stance, cut an even sportier figure even when stationary, and as a result enjoy a very distinct personality when compared with their BMW X5/BMW X6 siblings.
Bmw X6 - Doc220442
Visually striking yet fully functional front end. The shared front-end design of the BMW X5 M and BMW X6 M is likewise a clear departure from that of the respective standard models and follows the classic “form follows function” maxim. The large air intakes and voluminous “kidneys” of the radiator grille, with the now customary M double-bar look, are mandated by the high cooling air requirements of the powerful engine, transmission and high-performance front brakes. Despite the large amount of cooling and more stringent pedestrian protection requirements, the designers have managed to integrate foglamps into the front end of the vehicles. Both new M models borrow their headlights from the BMW X6, complete with headlight washer system. Elsewhere, the special flaps low down in the outer air intakes –adapted from those on racing vehicles – reduce lift and emphasise the optimized aerodynamics of the two new models.
Bmw X6 - Doc220431
Innovative engine technology. The new M TwinPower Turbo V8 for the BMW X5 M and BMW X6 M is the most powerful engine ever developed by BMW for an all-wheel-drive vehicle. Boasting innovative M TwinPower Turbo technology with a pair of TwinScroll turbochargers, cross-bank exhaust manifolds, VALVETRONIC and High Precision Direct Injection, the 4.4-liter V8 produces maximum output of 567 hp between 6,000 and 6,500 rpm. That represents a 3 percent increase over the predecessor models. The step up is even clearer when it comes to the power development of the new engine. Peak torque has been boosted by 53 lb-ft which equates to a rise of 10 percent. Its 553 lb-ft can be enjoyed across a broad rev range between 2,200 and 5,000 rpm.
Bmw X6 - Doc220432
of SUV. If the German automaker decided to bring back the AMG model (fingers crossed they do!), the sport version of this family hauler will prove to be stiff competition for the BMW X6 M. The rivalry between the two automakers has always been undeniably fun to observe and 2015 should prove to be no different.

Updated 08/28/12: The BMW X6 M is losing its camouflage slowly buy surely. This only means one thing: expect the luxury coupe SUV to be revealed sooner than later.

The 2015 BMW X6 is a five-passenger crossover with coupe-like styling. It is available in rear- or all-wheel drive depending on the powertrain chosen. BMW touts the X6 as the world’s first “Sports Activity Coupe” with its tall stance, high seating position and coupe-like roofline.
2015 BMW X6 Front Side View In Driveway1 300x199
Two turbocharged engines are available in the 2015 BMW X6: a 3.0-liter I-6 with 300 hp and 200 lb-ft of torque and 4.4-liter V-8 rated at 445 hp and 480 lb-ft (up from 400 hp and 450 lb-ft from the previous generation). Both engines are mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission, and the I-6 is available in rear-drive configuration. Although acceleration is strong with both engines, as you’d expect, the V-8 makes passing and merging a breeze thanks to its torque. While handling is good for such a large car, the 2015 X6 is “at heart a highway cruiser” with a comfortable ride even with the large 20-inch alloy wheels.

The X6 M is clearly distinguishable from the lesser X6. Huge vents, air intakes, and diffusers populate nearly every inch of real estate on the exterior. But the extroverted styling isn’t just for looks. The air intakes at the front help keep the twin-turbocharged engine, eight-speed transmission, and massive brakes cool during track duty. The little vent behind the front tires is there to help smooth turbulent air inside the front wheel wells.

Two door versions of the 1500 appeared in 1966, which ultimately evolved into the renowned BMW 2002, which in turn evolved into today's mainstay of the BMW marque, the 3 Series.

focused on improving the X6 in just about every area, including a 20-pound diet. Sure, that s not much considering the X6 tips the scales at over 4,600 pounds, but it s a worthy achievement for a vehicle that s longer and wider than the one it replaces. Besides gaining a crisper appearance that blends many cues already seen on 2014 model year BMWs, the coupe SUV also boasts updated technology and a slightly roomier interior.
